| Located to the west of the centre of the province, directly behind Marbella, this region covers an area of some 68,260 hectares.
Inland, it is home to an unusual, varied landscape in which a combination of rugged mountains and fertile valleys stand in the shadows of the Sierra de las Nieves itself. This range is a small, uneven chain of mountains whose wealth of extraordinary ecological riches saw it declared a Natural Park in 1989.
