Located in the extreme west of the province, this area of Malaga is home to more towns and villages than any of its counterparts.
It forms a protective arc running from the north to the north east, comprising the mountains of the Jobo, Co, Camarolos, Prieta, del Rey, Enmedio, Alhama, and, most importantly, the Tejeda and Almijara ranges, the latter of which was recently declared a Natural Park. This is a region of enormous potential as far as tourism is concerned, and one in which the visitor will find a wealth of expansive natural areas such as mountain ranges, hills, slopes and cliffs, as well as a wide range of local cuisine and a magnificent cultural heritage.
